Boys Town Research Vehicle

Taking Research on the Road

Our Boys Town Research Vehicle (BTRV) is a mobile research lab and audiology clinic. We visit schools, parks, community organizations and health fairs around the country, providing research opportunities and hearing screenings performed by licensed audiologists. The BTRV allows us to bring these opportunities to underserved communities, fostering a sense of community involvement and support.

A Mobile Audiology Booth and Research Lab

The BTRV is wheelchair accessible, climate controlled and equipped with the hospital grade test equipment we need to do research and audiological assessment.

Our team consists of licensed audiologists, speech-language pathologists, and hearing scientists who have extensive experience working with a wide range of ages and abilities.

Bringing Hope and Hearing to New Communities

Our BTRV team travels around Nebraska and across the United States with the goal of integrating our services in communities that don’t typically have access to research opportunities. Our partnerships in cities and rural communities across the country allow us to serve higher risk communities, such as children with developmental delays and/or individuals who lack access to hearing healthcare services.

Communities Served in 2024

  • Preschoolers and school-aged children who are typically developing
  • Older adults who have concerns about their hearing
  • Individuals with developmental disabilities, including Down syndrome
  • Individuals who speak English, Spanish or both languages
