Dr. Petro’s research is focused on how social media behaviors impact adolescent mental health and neurodevelopment. More broadly, his work seeks to understand the neural dynamics of emotional processing and their relationship with psychopathology. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in premier journals including PNAS, Psychological Science, and Developmental Cognitive Neuroscience.
Dr. Petro received his PhD from the University of Florida in 2018, where he used simultaneous EEG-fMRI recordings to study the interactions between emotion and attention. His postdoctoral work used fMRI and MEG recordings to study adolescent neurodevelopment, including the brain regions which underlie differences in socioemotional processing.
