Improve Pediatric Balance Tests

Researchers at Boys Town National Research Hospital are studying balance in infants and young children. The inner ear plays a big role in helping your child balance — this is called your vestibular system. Scientists want to learn more about how well vestibular function tests work for kids. Determining how accurate the tests are will help researchers and clinicians better identify when a meaningful change in your child’s vestibular function has occurred.

Who can participate?
Eligible participants are:

• Children 6 months to 5 years
• Children with normal hearing and no history of neurologic conditions or dizziness

What will your child do?
Research participants will:

• Complete two visits lasting one hour each
• Complete measures of inner ear balance function which include quick movements of the head and measuring muscles on the neck and under the eyes using sticker electrodes

Compensation
Participants will receive $20 for each visit.
