Having graduated with a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln in May 2025, I am now preparing to pursue a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology. To best equip myself for graduate school, I have actively sought research positions that would provide hands-on experience and deepen my understanding of diverse areas within psychology. My position in the ELK lab, which focuses on speech and language development, has been particularly fascinating as it broadens my perspective on human behavior and cognition. I began working in the lab in July 2025.
As a research assistant, I work extensively with REDCap for data entry and verification, ensuring all collected information is accurate and complete. I also assist with survey development, organization, and database management. My role has strengthened my skills in Excel, REDCap, and basic command-line programming, thereby improving my data management and problem-solving abilities.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my position is the opportunity to work with children, gain experience conducting assessments, and assist in eye tracking. These skills directly align with my future goals as a psychologist. Equally important, I value the ongoing learning opportunities provided through weekly DLD Lab meetings and Science Thursday presentations. These sessions, where faculty and guest speakers share their research and insights into the field, support my passion for staying up to date with the latest literature.
